MRCs ambulance project receives RM40,000 boost

Saturday, March 29th, 2014

State Youth, Sports, Women, Family and Community Development chairman Chong Eng said she would also be donating a sum of RM1,000 from her portfolio, as part of the initiative to encourage other members of the corporate sector and individuals to give their support to the MRC ComBase.

Since the MRC ComBase first started its services in 2007, it has provided ambulance service to attend to victims of road accidents before sending them to hospitals.

By including the cost of the staff, equipment, disposal items, petrol and vehicle maintenance, I understand that the cost would reach approximately RM600,000 annually for the three centres it has now in Penang.

It is an admirable humanitarian and outreach work which has contributed to various patients better chances of survival during emergencies, she said during the mock cheque presentation at Eastin Hotel recently.

MRC Penang Branch chairman Datuk B.J. Yeang said the MRC ComBase was the first 12-hour ambulance service centre in Permatang Tinggi in central Seberang Prai.

She said that following positive local feedback, the two other centres in Butterworth and Batu Maung were opened in January 2013 and January this year respectively.

Chong also oversaw the handing over of 20kg of old computers, CPUs, keyboards, computer accessories, speakers and laptops by the hotels Green Committee chairman Fong King Hong to the Spastic Childrens Association after the cheque presentation.
