Fund-raising do targets RM90,000

THE Malaysian Red Crescent North Seberang Prai chapter in Penang will hold a dinner this Sunday to raise funds for its 12-hour ambulance service in Permatang Tinggi and its other activities. The dinner will be held at the Tan Si Eng Chuan Tong Association hall on Jalan Kampung Paya in Butterworth.

Dinner organising chairman Dr Chong Yew Hock said the organising committee had already raised RM30,000 and needed to raise another RM90,000 to reach their target. He said those who donate RM10,000 and RM5,000 would be invited to hit the gong on the stage and be given 10 seats and six seats respectively. Those who donate RM3,000 would be invited to hit the drum and be given five seats while those who donate RM1,000 would be invited to cut the ribbon and be given four seats, Dr Chong said. He said those donate RM500 and RM300 would be given two seats each.

Among the activities conducted by the SPU chapter are first aid courses and talks as well as foot drill training for primary and secondary schools pupils. The chapter also provides 24-hour ambulance service at trunk roads and highways during festivals.

Renesas donate Ambulance to Red Crescent Penang

The Penang MRCS branch received an ambulance worth RM150,000 from Renesas Semiconductor (M) Sdn Bhd which was the main sponsor for the society’s Fund Raising Dinner 2008 held at Equatorial Hotel Penang.

The dinner, which were graced by Penang Governor Yang diPertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and his consort Toh Puan Majimor Shariff, raised over RM100,000 in ticket sales.

MRCS Penang branch chairman Ir. Saw Ewe Yong said the society had provided a 12-hour ambulance service in Bukit Mertajam since February last year and intended to expand it to a 24-hour service and to Penang island in the near future.

    1. All Chapters must form an Awards Committee chaired by the Chapter Chairman for the selection of nominees. All Awards Committee meeting minutes must be sent to the Branch.

    2. All recommendations from Chapters’ Sub-Committee Chairman, VAD Commandants or Youth Officers must go through the Chapter Chairman.

    3. In accordance to the Nomination Form, the age must be counted based on 1st January of the Year of Birth.

    4. All photographs must be pasted at the designated box on the top right hand corner of the Nomination Form.

    5. All nominees’ position stated must be accordance with the Handbook and Constitution.
