A) Internal RC Events

1. Youth Footdrill Training Course
Date : 14 March 2007 (School holiday)
Venue : Penang Youth Park (MPPP)
Participation : 140 pax
Objectives :
To standardised the footdrill instructions for all youth units at secondary schools.
To improve the foundation of marching skill and prepared for future Annual Parade.
Those completed the course and passed the evaluation by Army Footdrill Instructor will be qualified and rewarded with MRC Youth Footdrill proficiency badge.

2. Youth Development Forum
Date : 03 Apr 2007
Venue : MRCS Penang Branch Headquarter
Participation : 100 MRC Teachers (Youth Officers) from Secondary Schools
Objectives :
To meet all youth unit officers or teacher in-charges in secondary schools to discuss about the youth co-curriculum plans, activities and programs
To standardise the procedures for the implementation of MRC Youth Proficiency Badges, Examination and Certificates application

3. Link Development Forum
Date : 11 Apr 2007
Venue : MRCS Penang Branch Headquarter
Participation : 120 MRC Teachers (Link Officers) from Primary School Units
Objectives :
To share information with all unit officers or teacher in-charges in primary schools and planning co-curriculum activities for the children/junior members
To standardise the procedures for the implementation of MRC Link Proficiency Badges and Certificates application

4. International RCY Friendship Greeting Card Exchange Program
Feb 2007: Children from Japanese Red Cross exchange greeting cards with ASEAN (including Malaysian Red Crescent); 2 Link units at Island Chapter were selected to begin

5. Youth International Friendship Proficiency Badge Course
Date : 05 & 12 May 2007
Venue : SMK (A) Al-Irshad
Participation : 80 pax
SPU chapter gathered the students from RC youth units at Kepala Batas and Butterworth areas to take the core subject “Education in Red Cross & Red Crescent Society” and passed the examination to obtain the certificate from National HQ as requirement for them to go for the Youth International Friendship Proficiency Badge.

6. SPU Chapter Youth Camp
Date : 26 – 27 May 2007
Venue : SMK Teluk Air Tawar
Participation : 100 pax
This camp provides training in first aid skills and knowledge in RC.

7. SPU Chapter Link Workshop
Date : 27 May 2007
Venue : SPU Chapter & SK St. Mark
Participation : 100 pax
This event encouraged the strong relationship between the youth and link members by created playing and learning atmosphere together.

8. Participation to MRC National Youth Camp – “Kem Tutti Fratelli Ke-12”
Date : 4 to 7 June 2007
Venue : Bkt Cahaya Sri Alam, Tmn Pertanian M’sia, Shah Alam, Selangor
MRC Penang Branch have selected and sent 5 outstanding youth leaders from Unit-16 SMK Jit Sin BM to take part in this national level camp. They are: Chern Choon Keit, Jeffrey Ooi, Teoh Yang Shan, Maybelle Heng Huay Chin & Theam Yi Yun. The shortlist based on the unit strengths, member’s qualification, commitments and response from their respective chapter OC Youth, teacher, parents and the school.

9. RC Youth Exhibition
Date : 23 June 2007
Venue : SMK Seberang Jaya
Participation : 200 pax
The exhibition and first aid demonstration was planned and hosted by Youth Unit-43 with assistance from SPTS Chapter Youth Leaders and Officers.

10. RC Youth Annual Dinner
Date : 22 August 2007
Venue : The Summit Hotel, Bukit Mertajam Plaza
Participation : 300 pax
VAD volunteers get closer with youth leaders in this dinner.

11. RC Youth Gathering
Date : 22 Sept 2007
Venue : SMK Berapit, Bukit Mertajam
Participation : 500 pax
SPTS Chapter organized this gathering for all youth members.

12. Island Chapter Youth Adventure Walk
Date : 10 November 2007
Venue : Hutan Lipur Teluk Bahang
Participation : 90 pax

13. Youth Leadership Camp 2007
Date : 28 – 30 November 2007
Venue : Pusat Kokurikulum Pulau Pinang (Kem Mutiara)
Participation : 300 pax
To achieve the youth mission as stated in MRC 5 years strategic planning, the Penang Branch Youth Leadership Camp 2007 is jointly organized with Penang State Education Department (JPN). Besides leadership training and camp crafts, the program also involved the practical learning from Bomba, PDRM, Scouts and professional talk on AIDS/HIV in-conjunction with World AIDS day campaign.

14. SPTS Youth visit to National HQ
Date : 14 – 16 December 2007
Venue : National Headquarter, Kuala Lumpur
Participation : 40 pax
This trip not only visiting to National HQ, the SPTS chapter youth members also visited Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highland.

B) External Events

1. RC Youth taking part in Thailand Jamboree 2007
17 to 20 Aug. (Training Camp at Mengkuang, Bukit Mertajam)
- All uniform bodies gathered by Penang State Education Department (JPN)
23 to 25 Aug. (Zone Camp at SM Teknik, Perlis) – Centralized training for participants from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan & Terengganu
25 to 30 Aug. (Camp Jamboree at Songkhla, Thailand)
The cost of traveling and participation are sponsored by Ministry of Education. Below is the list of representatives from MRC Penang Branch:

from their chapter OC Youth, teacher, parents and the school.

2. RC Link participate to JPN Leadership Course for Uniform Bodies
Date : 4 – 7 November 2007
Venue : Suria Beach Resort, Pulau Pangkor, Perak
Participation :
JPN Penang selected 2 RC Link officers as Facilitators to assist their secretariat:
- Cikgu Ooi Hwei Ching (SJKC Keow Kuang, Bkt Mertajam)
- Cikgu Tan Lay Pheng (SJKC Kwang Hwa, Butterworth)
Together with 27 RC Link members to take part in this course:
- SK Guar Perahu : 10 members
- SJKC Nung Min : 5 members
- SJKC Seng Keow : 5 members
- SK Sungai Acheh : 3 members
- SK Sungai Setar : 2 members
- SJKC Keow Kuang : 2 members
This course is fully sponsored by Penang State Education Department (JPN). There
was 160 participants selected from various uniform bodies (PBSM, PPIM, PPT,
TKRS, SJAM) in primary schools joined in this state level training course.

3. RC Link participate to National Level Children Camp for Uniform Bodies
Date : 27 – 30 November 2007
Venue : Kuantan, Pahang
Participants :
RC Link Officer Mdm Ooi Hwei Ching and another Scout Teacher were selected by
JPN Unit Co-curriculum to lead 80 children (2 buses) from several uniform bodies at
Penang Primary Schools to take part in this camping. Out of this number, 7 are from
our RC Link unit as below:
· SJKC Keow Kuang : 4 members
· SJKC Boon Beng : 3 members
All expenses were sponsored by JPN. The children went through the skills training
and evaluation by senior officers from MRC Pahang Branch.

C) External Achievement

In April 2007, RC Link Unit of SJKC Keow Kuang Bkt Mertajam from the SPTS chapter won the Champion and Best Contingent Leader in The Formation Footdrill Competition of Uniform Bodies (Primary school category) organized by District Education Office(PPD). Then they also represent the district to the State level competition hold by Penang State Education Department (JPN) and again won the overall 2nd runner-up in May 2007.

RC Youth Unit-16 SMJK Jit Sin Bkt Mertajam also won the 1st runner-up for Secondary School category at PPD district level.

Leadership camp for students

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

A host of events were lined up for the participants for the three days two nights camp jointly organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Penang branch and the state Education Department.

They included setting up tents, mass cooking, camp craft and several other training sessions related to improving youth members leadership skills.

Seberang Prai municipal councillor Ong Tang Chuan, who closed the training camp on behalf of state executive councilor YB Lau Chiek Tuan, told the participants to share their knowledge with others when they returned to their respective schools.

Also present were MRC Penang branch vice chairman Chan Hon Kwong, state Education Department co-curriculum unit officer Sabidi Mustafar and organising chairman Lim Kuo Shee.

Cheng Kar Lee from SMJK Jit Sin received the Best Leadership Award. Muhamad Firdaus Abd Rahman from SMK St Georges was recognised the best male participant while Looi Mun Yee from SMK Convent Light Street was chosen as the best female participant.

SMK Tun Hussein Onn received the first prize for its choir presentation during the cultural night.

1) Island Chapter Link Colouring Competition

Held at different primary schools at Island Chapter:
21 Mac 2006 : SK Convent Pulau Tikus
28 Mac 2006 : SK Methodist Perempuan

06 July 2006 : SK Residency

2) Youth Boot Camp 2006

Date : 31 May to 04 June 2006 (5 days 4 nights)
Venue : SMK Prai
Participants : About 100 members from SPTS youth units
Description :
This project is organized by youth council committee with the purpose to train the youth members and equip them with the knowledge to complete their MRCS youth proficiency badges test.

3) Branch Link Project 2006

Date : 28 October 2006
Venue : MRCS Penang Headquarter
Participants : About 120 Link members from all chapters
Description :
For children visit to HQ, Introduction to Junior First Aid Class, Practical for bandaging, First Aid Demonstration by Youth members, Transportation Techniques, get to know MRCS Ambulance & Disaster Relief Vehicle.

4) SPTS Chapter Youth Leadership Camp

Date : 3 – 5 November 2006
Venue : Penang Hill
Participants : Youth leaders from secondary schools in SPTS chapter
Description :
- Ice breaking, motivation and leadership training for the youth council members.

5) Island Chapter Link Family Day

Date : 4 November 2006
Participants : Link members from primary schools in Island Chapter
Description :
- Junior First Aid class and motivational games on team building.

6) SPU Chapter Link Camp

Date : 11 & 12 November 2006
Venue : SK St. Mark, B’worth
Participants : About 40 Link members from primary schools in SPU chapter
Description :
- The activities in the camping consist of First Aid course, Simulation of Injuries & Treatments, Health awareness talk, Gotong-Royong, Foot drill training, History of RC, Telematch & motivation games.

7) Uniform Bodies Management Course invited by Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri (JPN)

Date : 22 – 24 November 2006
Venue : Sea View Hotel, Pulau Langkawi
Participants : 1 MRCS Branch Officer and 5 out of 12 selected MRCS Teachers attended
Description :
- Discussion about the activities planning and budget allocation for year 2007
- Submission of proposal to request financial support for MRCS youth development with jointly organizing events with JPN

THE EXTERNAL ACHIEVEMENT 2006

1) 9 May 2006: Link Unit of SJK(C) Keow Kuang Bkt Mertajam from SPTS chapter again won the 1st Runner-up (out of 15 contingents from various Uniform bodies) in The Formation Marching Competition organized by PPD (Pej. Pelajaran Daerah Sbrg Perai Utara & Tengah).

2) “Perkhemahan Perdana Unit Beruniform Sekolah-sekolah Rendah Daerah Seberang Perai Utara & Tengah” – Anjuran Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah SPU&T.

  • MRC AWARDS NOMINATIONS 2012
    July 19, 2011 | 5:22 pm

    1. All Chapters must form an Awards Committee chaired by the Chapter Chairman for the selection of nominees. All Awards Committee meeting minutes must be sent to the Branch.

    2. All recommendations from Chapters’ Sub-Committee Chairman, VAD Commandants or Youth Officers must go through the Chapter Chairman.

    3. In accordance to the Nomination Form, the age must be counted based on 1st January of the Year of Birth.

    4. All photographs must be pasted at the designated box on the top right hand corner of the Nomination Form.

    5. All nominees’ position stated must be accordance with the Handbook and Constitution.
